대한민국 첫 여성 외교부 장관을 지낸 강경화 제9대 아시아 소사이어티 회장이 휴스턴 시민들을 만난다.
아시아 소사이어티 휴스턴센터는 오는 10일(목) 강경화 전 외교부장관을 초청해 미국과 아시아 관계에 대한 생각, 아시아의 안보 및 기후변화문제, 국제 다자간 조직이 수행하는 역할 등에 다양한 주제로 대담 형식 세미나를 준비한다고 밝혔다.
아시아 소사이어티 텍사스 이사회 에디 알렌 박사가 질문하고 강경화 전 외교부 장관이 대답하는 대담형식으로 진행된다. 이번 이벤트는 무료이며 누구나 참여할 수 있다. 다만 아시아 소사이어티 홈페이지를 통해 사전 참가등록(등록 웹사이트 클릭)을 해야 한다.
In April 2024, Dr. Kyung-wha Kang became the ninth President and CEO of Asia Society Global. Dr. Kang is an accomplished diplomat who made history when she became the first woman to serve as the Republic of Korea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. She previously held key leadership roles at the United Nations and was appointed to senior positions including Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights under Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs under Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and Senior Advisor on Policy to Secretary-General António Guterres.
Asia Society Texas is pleased to welcome Dr. Kang to Houston for a conversation centering her personal journey through domestic and international public institutions, her thoughts on U.S.–Asia relations, security and climate change concerns in Asia, and the roles international multilateral organizations can play in promoting peace and prosperity. Dr. Kang will be joined in conversation by Asia Society Global Trustee and Asia Society Texas Board Treasurer Eddie Allen, Ph.D. Registration is required for this free event.
